Who are we?

The Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research in Australia dedicated to research into the causes, prevention, better treatments and ultimately a cure for childhood cancer.  More than 40 years on, our vision remains unchanged – to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health, through research.  The Institute has now grown to employ nearly 350 researchers, operational staff, and students, and has established a national and international reputation for scientific excellence.

We are currently a team of 5, looking to increase to 7 in order support to the rapid growth we are experiencing and will continue to, as we transition into a state of the art, Comprehensive Children’s Cancer Centre over the next 4 years.

What is our opportunity?

We have an opportunity for a People and Culture Advisor to join our People and Culture team. You will work closely with the Senior People and Culture Business Partner and wider People & Culture team to provide essential People and Culture business partnering to diverse teams and be involved in new P&C projects design and implementation.

We need our People and Culture Business Partner to carry a passion for people, wellbeing, and self-discovery, comfortable in a role that will require an appetite for lots of change, technology, fast paced operation, HR data and analytics, processes and a natural flair for relationships and influencing positive outcomes with teams of Scientists and Professionals.  Hands on experience in supporting leaders and teams through full employee lifecycle from talent acquisition to onboarding, to performance and development to separation is required.

What might you need?

  • +2 years in an HR Generalist position
  • Good grasp of workplace relations and employment regulations.
  • Comfortable with technology and HRIS systems and HR data driven.
  • Strong self-awareness, influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and supportive with experience working in a team.
  • TAFE/bachelor’s degree or studying towards a HR related qualification.
